Trip to Barentsburg by Boat
This trip takes you to Barentsburg, a coal-producing town which is still active. En route you cross the Isfjord and can get a closer look at the Esmark Glacier. It isn’t unsual to spot seals, walruses or even a polar bear. After arriving in Barentsburg you will be picked up at the pier by the local English speaking Russian guide. He will take you on a guided sightseeing trip through the municipality and reveal the fascinating story of all that you’re seeing.
The crew on board is dedicated to making sure you enjoy your visit and will serve you a delicious barbecue lunch. You can buy hot and cold drinks too.
On your return trip to Longyearbyen you pass the Colesbay, a small disused town. There is a scheduled stop at the Bird Mountain, which – as the name suggests – is heavily populated by seabirds.
