Season Overview

Summer (June-August): 24 hours sunlight, the midnight sun at its best

Autumn (September-October): from the 23th of August the days get shorter again

Dark Season (November-February): for more than two months we have absolutely no natural light at all

Winter (March-May): even up here next to the North pole we are getting kind of a normal day-, night- rhythm. And the sun comes back

Spring (May): while the ice is melting, the midnight sun comes up again and summer season is coming closer and closer

Information, Winter Tours:

During the winter the temperature can drop down to -20 degrees Celsius.

Spitzbergen Adventures will provide you with the following items:

  • a warm snowmobile suit
  • shoes
  • gloves, balaclava
  • helmet with a visor

You should bring:

  • merino wool and fleece for the inner layer, for both your body and feet
  • goggles
  • warm trousers, shoes and jacket
  • down is always a good choice in addition to the wool
  • thin gloves for handling your camera, food or other eventualities where you need a good grip
  • extra batteries for your camera
  • small backpack for extra clothes and/or thermos flask, water, snacks
  • driving licence

Information, Summer Tours:

Even though it is summer, the average temperature is only around 5-10 degrees celsius

On our activities you will be provided with:

  • appropriate clothes e.g. wet suit etc.
  • dry suit
  • life belt

You should bring:

  • merino wool and fleece for the inner layer, for both your body and feet
  • gore-tex trousers and jacket
  • warm jacket
  • waterproof shoes, hiking shoes
  • hiking poles
  • thin gloves for handling your camera, food or other eventualities where you need a good grip
  • extra batteries for your camera
  • small backpack for extra clothes and/or thermos flask, water, snacks

Company Terms:

  • A pre-payment of 25% of the total price has to be made, within 14 days from the date of order, if the total value is above 25.000nok
  • The total price has to be paid until 4 weeks prior the tour.
  • Should the customer cancel 22-7 days prior to departure, 50% refund shall be made
  • Should the customer cancel fewer than 7 days prior to departure, no refund shall be made
  • The tour operator reserves the right to cancel trips due to weather conditions with full reimbursement for the affected trips
  • In the event of cancelled flights, illness or forgotten/invalid drivers licence, no reimbursement of equipment costs shall be made.
  • Payment can be made either by credit card or ordinary bank transfer

The general alcohol limit for operating a vehicle in Norway is 0.2 per mil. This effectively means you need to be sober in order to join us on the snowmobile trip. Should there be any doubt in this instance, you will be precluded from the trip and no re-imbursement will be made.
