Trekking through the realm of glaciers
We’ll pick you up from your hotel and head to Nybyen, where our adventure begins. After crossing the meltwater river, we ascend the eastern slope of Sarkofagen. A short, steep climb leads to a gentle, scenic walk along the moraine towards Larsbreen Glacier. Finally, we tackle the last slope, reaching the mountain’s summit.

Tour Details
We’ll reach the viewpoint for a longer break with a warm lunch and hot drinks. Afterward, we’ll descend via Longyearbreen, a different route, partially walking on the glacier. Enjoy stunning views of the glacier and Longyear Valley before crossing the meltwater river one last time on the way back to the car.
The walk is pleasant and not too difficult, with the pace adjusted to everyone’s fitness level. However, some mobility is required. The rocky start makes hiking shoes with ankle support a good choice, along with a windproof jacket and fleece or wool as the first layer. We’ll provide trekking poles and crampons if needed.
In winter, we’ll provide snowshoes and a headlamp. Please inform us of any food allergies before booking. The tour has a maximum of 8 participants, with a minimum of 2 required. Larger groups can be arranged on request.
This tour is not recommended for very young children; participants should be at least 6 years old.
Bring a small backpack for essentials like extra clothes, water, snacks, and a camera. If you don’t have hiking shoes, you can rent them from us—just let us know.
